REPLACE THIS MESSAGE WITH PARISH NEWS!8/7/2010 9:15 am

This tab on your parish's OCN website can immediately become a great message board to keep parishioners informed. Add new messages or announcements now. Read the next few posts below to find out how to do that. When you post a new message, this one will drop down the list and will be saved for viewing via the "Older messages" link at the bottom of this page, once six messages have been posted.

Please tell priests, parish staff and parishioners about the Our Catholic Neighborhood website and why they should use this new, dynamic, communication tool. It is free and easy to use. The OCN website was launched in late July of 2010 and your Catholic priests and parishioners may not know about it yet! Spread the word about OCN please!

TAKE CHARGE OF THIS COMMUNICATION TOOL - CORRECT OLD INFO8/7/2010 9:14 am

Our Catholic Neighborhood has created this informative (and free) webpage for your parish and it's loaded with useful communication tools.

* Make announcements about what's happening in the parish - and add new messages frequently.

* Update information, (starting with the name of the pastor if he's new). It's really easy.

* Upload a photo of your church. That's really easy to do.

* Load your parish's Mass times using the easy tools OCN has created.

* Load your parish staff directory. That's important information for parishioners to have available.

* Link your parish's OCN webpage with the OCN webpages of Catholic organizations affiliated with your parish.

* All parish groups and committees can easily create their own OCN webpages in the Parish Groups tab to communicate about their ministry. Have the group leaders create them now!

* Individual parishioners can create Catholics in the Workplace listings, to introduce themselves and tell their Catholic neighbors what they do for a living.

HERE'S A LINK TO A PARISH THAT IS USING THIS FEATURE WELL!8/7/2010 9:13 am

Get an idea of what your parish's OCN webpage will look like after a few minutes of effort by a local parish "manager".

Take a look at the OCN webpage for St. Patrick Parish in Walla Walla, Washington (Diocese of Spokane).

HELP POST INFORMATION - ASK OCN FOR "MANAGER" PRIVILEGES.8/7/2010 9:12 am

Get started updating your parish's OCN webpage by creating a username and password and ask to be added as a "manager" for your parish. Parishioners can assist priests and parish staff.

When local managers log in, the identity of all other managers are listed - so the priest and staff know who's helping!

If you belong to a parish ministry group, go to the Parish Groups tab and create an OCN webpage for that ministry. Then, begin posting messages, create a directory of those involved in the parish group, link affiliated local and national organizations that have OCN webpages and begin getting the word out about what your ministry is up to! Make your group flourish!

Pastors, as a safeguard, can remove managers and groups that don't belong.

Also, objectionable content can be reported to OCN at the link at the bottom of each page.

HELP MAKE OCN A GREAT COMMUNICATION TOOL - RICH IN CONTENT!8/7/2010 9:11 am

At Our Catholic Neighborhood our goal is to reveal the breadth and depth of the Catholic Church in our world. We've built tools and are making them freely available so Catholics everywhere can add valuable content to the OCN website, communicate about local Catholic ministries and create connectedness with other Catholics, locally and globally.

So please create a username and password, suggest links to websites created by other Catholic organizations and individuals that we should add in the Our Global Catholic Neighborhood area and in the Our Catholic Faith area, add great content in your local Catholic parish and neighborhood and help us make Our Catholic Neighborhood a great tool for evangelization.

Think of the possibilities! Please email your Catholic family members and friends about the OCN website.

Many thanks for supporting the Our Catholic Neighborhood project by putting this website to good use.
